Mag of Holding Test Print - SUCCESS!

Thank you so much for your patience in waiting for us getting the rest of Breath of the Feywild over the line.
Some exciting news!
The last update told you we were waiting for a test print of Mag of Holding - Breath of the Feywild. Well, we received it a few weeks back. Life has been so hectic between travel and sick family (I had a gut bug for a week also, that was fun) and more travel (for business), I haven't had a chance to post about it until now.
The good news is the quality is amazing!
It's always difficult to see these things in videos and images, but the paper stock is fantastic. The colors show so nicely and it feels like quality in your fingers. The text is really easy to read in most places and we'll make a few changes anywhere it currently isn't already crisp and clear.
The bad news is we need to make a few minor adjustments. I mean, this isn't really "bad" news because these are minor changes we can make now and send it straight to print after the manufacturer shares images with us to make sure the issues have been addressed (no need to wait weeks for another print sample to arrive).
Let me show you a few examples of those issues:
On a few other pages the background is a little too dark for reading the text clearly. But that's another easy change.
So when can you expect your physical copy of Breath of the Feywild?
You know how much I hate putting dates on things with so many unexpected delays cropping up.
But with the dust settling a bit after the launch of Vagabond's Guide to Dalriada these changes will be made this week. And the new PDF will be sent to the printer by the weekend. We then expect to have images of the new test print within a week and then we can hit go on the print job.
I aim to have the print job ordered and completed by the end of April, and shipping started in May (at the latest). Unexpected delays notwithstanding, I don't see any reason we can't hit those targets.
Add-ons Update
We're in the process of running initial layout for A Murder of Crows.
We'll have a few screenshot for that in coming weeks. I aim to get this printed straight after Mag of Holding - Breath of the Feywild so those who backed both aren't waiting any longer and can receive items together in the mail. The challenge here is that the art for this book is "mostly finished" and what I mean by that is each piece is finished to a certain level but it will be further developed after layout is decided. This is a bit different to how we normally do things, but it was a bit of an experiment to see how much we could adjust the art around layout requirements instead of the other way around. To see if we could speed up the process a bit.
Either way, we will keep you posted.
Conclusion
Again, thank you for understanding the difficulties and challenges that global events have presented over the last few years...and the knock-on delays that resulted from those events. Starting a publishing company the same month the planet went into lockdown was...less than ideal.
We're fulfilling this project late. But we ARE fulfilling it, despite the above challenges, and I appreciate your holding on while we navigate this ever-shifting landscape. I can't tell you how exited I am to finally get this and other outstanding projects into your hands.
Since we're aiming to keep you guys posted at least once a month (or as close to that as possible) we'll send another update in April.
