Latest Updates from Our Project:

A Wee Update on Breath of the Feywild - And Firestar Falling
about 2 years ago – Fri, Feb 18, 2022 at 07:11:27 PM

A quick update on where we're at...

But first, running a publishing company trying to maintain a competitive edge in the D&D space means having several projects on the go at once.

Plus, we're giving everyone who backs Bergin's Book of Beasts physical tiers in the first 48 hours a free hardcover copy of Firestar Falling, a 100+ page adventure for 5e (more details coming soon), and I don't want our existing supporters to miss out on such a ridiculous giveaway.

If you want to be reminded about that launch, you can Follow Here.

Now!

With that out of the way, where are we with the Breath of the Feywild campaign?

Anyone who backed a tier with or added any of the 3 previous Mag of Holding books, should have received the PDFs in their Backerkit account by now. If you didn't receive those, however, please shout.

As for Breath of the Feywild itself, as you already know, the writing is done (most of it was before we started the campaign).

But we've had a hold up with the art. We always ended up with too much art on the other Mag of Holding projects. It was a pity not to use it all (though we will always find a home for such art somewhere so it doesn't get too lonely), but it also didn't make business sense to commission more than was practical.

So!

We dialed it back the art on Breath of the Feywild.

Well, it has transpired that we dialed things back a little TOO far.

We're now waiting for a few last-minute commissions coming through. Once we have those, we can continue with layout, onto the final QR checks and BETA reads to make sure you get the best content possible, then we can send the PDF out the door.

When?

We're aiming to have it out by the end of March at the very latest. I'm confident we can get it out before then, but I'll know for sure by the end of this month.

On the print side, there is good news and bad news.

Good News

The good news is we've found a shipping company that gets our stuff from the print warehouse (Toronto) to the fulfillment centre (in California) in a few days. This is especially reassuring after months of delay on shipping the Frozen Wastelands reprint (we ran out of copies on the first print).

People have started sending us picture of them holding our books, which is always awesome.

We're so relieved to have found a more reliable shipping solution!

Bad News

The bad news is Gothic Horror, a project we Kickstarted in October, was submitted for print in January, and it still hasn't begun. This is because of the global paper shortages that I'm sure you're aware of at this point.

We're hoping to get that job running by the end of February, and when we do, we'll have a better idea of what kind of delay to expect on the Breath of the Feywild print (though we hope that the supply issues will have eased by then). Of course, this is also important for those of you who have ordered all 4 books.

We continue to push as hard as we can every day on our own end and on our supplier's end, to get these books to you as soon as possible!

We're still looking for alternative printing solutions, but our search has so far revealed that all printers are in the same boat (unless you use digital printing which doubles the price and produced half the quality).

As this stage, if we move the job to a different supplier, we'll be moved to the bottom of their queue and it'll take even longer. So, we'll just have to wait it out for the time being.

But rest assured that when I have an update, you will too!

Fingers crossed the universe doesn't keep us waiting too long.

Moving Along

Several projects are moving slower than expected, due to a combination of shipping delays, paper shortages, and their knock on effects. Chasing these things down can take a great deal of time and focus that would be better spent creating and improving content.

That said, things are still moving on all fronts...and we're moseying along...and that's the important thing in these uncertain times.

And as soon as an opportunity to run at full throttle again presents itself, we intend to do so!

I'll have another update by the end of February.

If you need anything before then, you know where to find me.

Until then, happy gaming!

Paddy Finn.

P.S. A little art by Liam Hammond to whet your appetite.

Update for Breath of the Feywild and A Murder of Crows
over 2 years ago – Thu, Jan 20, 2022 at 03:28:54 AM

Hey folks,

Most of the surveys have been filled out.

If you haven't already done so, please check your email for a survey message from Backerkit.

Also, please be aware that if you purchase a print book as an add-on, it will include the PDF.

We'll lock addresses and orders over the weekend and start sending digital files. First to come will be Mag of Holding - Frozen Wastelands, Pirates & Seafaring, and Gothic Horror. Breath of Feywild is still going through layout and there will likely be a slight delay with the PDF going out in February.

The holidays put us a bit behind on the art front.

As for prints, all Mag of Holding prints and reprints are either going through production or on their way to the warehouse. With the exception of Breath of the Feywild. We don't actually have an ETA on this one yet and probably won't until the PDF goes out.

We're exploring other printing options to see if we can set up a more efficient system between print and warehouse. We might still go with our current printer. They have been awesome for the most part and can't really be blamed for freight delays given the way of the world currently. But we need to contact a few more people, get more quotes, and run more numbers.

All that fun stuff no one tells you about :)

That said, the print copies should ship well before the deadline.

As for Tales from the Lorekeeper...A Mounstrous Escape is almost done and the print run will be ordered in a week or two with A Murder of Crows following a few weeks later.

I received a rough sketch from one of our artists for a mystery project launching in a few months. One clue, it's goin to be a pretty beefy hard back book.

Figured I would share it with you guys first.

Any guesses what the book will be about?

Backerkit Surveys On Their Way!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Jan 10, 2022 at 12:33:04 AM

A quick update regarding Backerkit surveys.

They have gone out.

If you lose your link, you should be able to pick up from here: https://mohfeywild.backerkit.com/

As always, any issues, raise a ticket on there and we'll sort you out asap.

One thing to bear in mind is last time we had an issue where the shipping form defaulted to the Rest of World shipping rate (the most expensive one) when you left the shipping form blank. So if it seems extortionate, fill in your address and you'll see the shipping rate change to the normal rate for your region.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

I'll post an update regarding production progress soon!

Cheers,

Paddy

Update on Art and Backerkit Smoke Test
over 2 years ago – Fri, Jan 07, 2022 at 05:00:46 PM

Hey folks,

I hope you had a great start to the new year.

A quick update. The smoke test on Backerkit went live yesterday which means 5% of backers got an email.

Do not fear! Once we're happy there are no issues with the set up, we'll send the rest of the emails, so expect to see those on Monday/Tuesday.

Regarding production, it has been a slow start to the new year. That's not to say it hasn't been busy. It has been hectic! But I'm still wrapping up a bunch of things from 2021.

That said, I've started writing up the art briefs and can start sending those out early next week. We should have everything we need for layout by the end of the month.

The writing, of course, is over 90% done. So layout won't take long when it comes to it.

When we have the PDF ready, we'll have a better idea of what's going on with the print edition.

We're working hard to tie up all open projects be the beginning of the new financial year.

Still working on the Free PDF, though I hope to have an update on that next week.

Keep you all posted on developments again soon.

Cheers,

Paddy

Backerkit Pledge Manager and Other Updates
over 2 years ago – Tue, Jan 04, 2022 at 08:46:16 PM

I hope you all had a great Xmas and that the new year is good to you.

Just a quick update that the Backerkit Survey email will go out over the next few days. I got my wires crossed and announced it earlier than I meant to. But it'll be with you by Wednesday.

The supplemental adventure is still a work in progress. I had to take time off over the holidays (it's the only time in the year I get to actually take off work). And the family were ill. But we're over the worst of it and everything should be back to relative normality come Monday.

Fingers crossed I can catch up quick and get the adventure out next week. It's been sitting in a state of near-completion for a while. But it does need a cleanup before I can hit send!

It'll be perfect for slotting into RotF, SKT,  any arctic setting...or if you just want a whacky horror one-shot. And of course in the run-up to Xmas 2022.

Santa's Reinfear have been infected by cosmic parasites, granting them evil powers... (WIP)
Lots of lore, story, and flavor text - Excuse the typos...It's an early draft!

Weighing in at around 24 pages, this turned out to be quite the beefy document. We'll put it up for sale on the store as a print/PDF, but the first edition PDF will go to you good backer for free as promised.

I've had a lot of fun writing it and might take some of the lore and expand it into its own adventure module later. I've been chatting with one of our illustrators about something along those lines for a long time. So we shall see :)

Have a great end to 2021.

Until the next update,

Take care,

Paddy
